The iPhone 3GS has a new faster processor. Apple says that is 2 times faster than the original iPhone 3G. The new processor also consumes less energy, which has an impact on the improved battery life.

Better Camera and Video Support

iPhone 3GS has a new 3 Megapixels camera with auto focus, auto exposure, and auto white balance. It also has special macro and low light modes.

It now supports video (without Jailbrake) with 30 frames per second VGA with auto focus, auto white balance, and auto exposure.

Data

It supports for the new 7.2 Mbps 3G standard, which in theory will deliver data faster to your iPhone (next year according to ATT). Now you can also share the 3G connection on your iPhone with your Mac notebook or PC laptop (not available for ATT at this time).

Graphics

The new iPhone 3GS includes new 3D graphics support in hardware. This means faster and more complicated 3D games.

Design

No changes here. Same look and feel as iPhone 3G.

New Special Features

• It has a magnetometer, which works with a Compass application, third parties, and it is integrated into the new Google maps app, showing your orientation with a small semitransparent cone.
• Voice control. You can now talk with your iPhone, Enterprise-style. You can instruct it to play similar songs to the one you are playing, or call people.
• Nike + support.
